Speculative Storytelling
In our speculative storytelling work stream, we like to bring provocative prompts for people to imagine different versions of the future.
The prompts do not necessarily represent the futures we would like to see come true. They are more like opportunities for us to stretch our imagination beyond what we already know, exercise our creativity and reflect on how, despite all odds, our feminist values would still stand.
See below what we have been up to recently.
What to do with men?
Prompt
"25 years ago, it would have been hard to believe. But now, in 2050, we see it clearly that the seeds were already planted. It was a matter of time for the Matriarchy to fully flourish. It is spring again, and we are back, stronger than ever, to govern the world under feminist principles. In our shared decision-making process, there is only one thing we haven’t fully agreed upon yet: what to do with men?"

The project
At the moment, this speculative storytelling project is being developed by women and non-binary authors from all around the world. Their collection of short fiction stories will be published as a book by the end of 2026. Stay tuned to join our online launch in December!
This book is an invitation for reflection: after everything that men have done over centuries against the planet, women, children, and themselves, what is, after all, their role in a feminist, egalitarian, and just society?
The prompt emerged from a text written by Thays Prado for another speculative storytelling project titled "2050 Books", where she questions exactly that. Read her text in English, Spanish (pg. 142), or Portuguese (pg. 142).
